Derry Delights and Seaside Pints!

In August, Team Hourigan took on Derry for our annual team building and CPD trip. One of the highlights was a visit to Ebrington Square, a 29-acre former military barracks currently undergoing major multi-million-pound regeneration. The development is transforming the site into a thriving mixed-use hub featuring cultural, commercial, and residential facilities whilst preserving the unique heritage of the site.

No visit to Derry would be complete without a walk along the city walls, which offered fantastic views of the city and provided a unique perspective on its past. As one of the best-preserved walled cities in Europe, the walls tell the story of Derry’s rich local history.

During the trip, we also took the opportunity to venture across the border into County Donegal for a day in the seaside village of Downings, where in an unexpected turn of events the Irish coast delivered some sunshine, blue skies, and even a chance for a dip in the sea.

To round off the trip, we paid a visit to many of the finest pubs in the area which provided an excellent chance to enjoy a perfectly poured Guinness, and a taste of the famous hospitality for which Derry is well known.

Overall, the trip was an enjoyable mix of history, culture, and regeneration, with good food and great pints.
