Hourigan Planning are pleased to have supported Rossett Park Farming with diversification projects at their 5th generation, 1,500 acre organic farm near Wrecsam in North Wales.
The first phase of the project involved securing full planning permission for a car park and a 2 mile recreational dog walking loop around the farm allowing dog owners to walk their dogs off the lead in a secure setting whilst also learning about organic farming. This element of the project necessitated careful negotiations with the Local Planning Authority and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) given the nearby River Dee Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and areas of flood risk; however the project was ultimately supported and determined under delegated authority by Officers with planning permission being approved. The scheme is very popular with local people and tourists alike and was recently featured on the BBC’s Countryfile programme.

The second phase of the project was to secure full planning permission for an extension to the car park and a new farm shop to showcase dairy and beef products thereby helping with diversification and long term viability. Hourigan Planning managed a multi-disciplinary team and advised on a public engagement strategy which led to a further delegated approval. The scheme is now fully complete and proving very popular with visitors.
