Affordable Housing Success in the Fenlands!

Following the completion of a S106 legal agreement, we are very happy to finally be able to report that full planning permission has been granted for some much needed affordable homes in the Fenland district.

Acting on behalf of Bowsall Developments, Hourigan Planning worked closely with Officers at Fenland District Council which resulted in the planning application being reported positively to the Members of the Planning Committee.

Being located in a part of the UK where flood risk and drainage is one of the biggest issues, it was important that the scheme demonstrated clearly that the new homes would not cause any issues of flood risk elsewhere and that the proposed method of drainage could be supported by the statutory bodies.

The scheme will reuse a brownfield site which is positioned in a highly sustainable location in the lovely town of Wisbech and will deliver some fantastic social rent homes for people aged 55 and over. All the new homes will be bungalows reflecting the character of the site and the needs of the future occupants.

Hourigan Planning led the multi-disciplinary team alongside the client starting with an Initial Planning Appraisal, through to engaging with the Council at the pre-application stage, hosting pre-application consultation with the local community, and organising coordination of the planning application submission.

Hourigan Planning is delighted for the landowner and our client who, in partnership with a Registered Provider, have a great scheme to bring forward for some truly affordable homes in an area of affordable housing need.

If you have a residential scheme you would like some planning advice on, please do get in touch with the team.
