Hourigan Planning recently secured a resolution to approve a 47-unit affordable housing retirement living scheme at Cheshire East Council’s Southern Area Planning Committee. The site, which is unallocated, is partly within the settlement boundary of Crewe and partly within an area designated as a Strategic Green Gap and Open Countryside in the Council’s Local Plan. There were also a number of technical matters which needed careful attention including parking, accessibility, design, landscape and the diversion of a PROW. Working closely with the applicants (Bowsall Developments & Housing 21) and the consultant team, we were able to successfully persuade the Council’s Officers to recommend that full planning permission be granted. Niall Mellan appeared at the Council’s Planning Committee and presented the scheme to Members who resolved to grant planning permission.
Work is underway to finalise the S106 legal agreement following which full planning permission will be granted.
